Here’s to the first day of summer. Longer days, lots of sunlight, and warmer temps mean lots of us are spending more time outdoors, or at least leaving our windows open to let our homes fill with the approaching summer breezes.

We’re guessing you’ve left Spring cleaning far behind and are now looking for that perfect Summer refresh! So, we’ve gathered up our favorite paint color trends to help add some flair to your home just in time for the new season:

For Sunkissed Walls, try ‘Sailor’s Delight,’ 1296

Along with the fashion and decor worlds, the paint industry also saw a big “Pink Movement” this spring. Blush pinks and florals became increasingly popular as either the primary shade of color used in the home, or as an accent color. With the hotter months approaching, we’re predicting a shade of pink with more of an island feel. Benjamin Moore’s ‘Sailor’s Delight’ looks like a romantic beachy sunset. The shade goes great with creamy off-whites and wood furniture – glasses of rosé champagne are optional.

For Something Nautical, try ‘Caribbean Azure,’ 2059-20

The ‘nautical’ look is always a popular theme but when summer is approaching, it becomes much more sought after. This year,  rather than the standard navy, we’re leaning towards Benjamin Moore’s ‘Caribbean Azure,’ which feels a little sweeter and more tropical. Like navy, this shade looks clean and bold paired with a crisp white, as well as alongside other neutrals, like pale grays and sandy beiges, for a softer look. It’s also an excellent shade to use sparingly for pops of color in an otherwise neutral palette.

For Beach House Vibes, try ‘At Sea’ 666

Paint a room in your home in Benjamin Moore’s ‘At Sea’, put on a soundtrack of ocean waves, and you’ll feel instantly transported to the Hamptons or the Cape. This cool, playful shade is perfect for a small powder room, a calming guest bedroom, or even to change up the look of an old piece of furniture, like an end table or chairs. It would also look lovely with some bright white cabinets or distressed wood. Essentially, it’s a coastline in a paint can.

For Sunset Cocktails, try ‘Beach Plum’ 2072-60

This year’s Benjamin Moore Color of the Year was a shade called ‘Shadow,’ a deep violet. But for summer, we’re leaning more towards muted lilac shades like ‘Beach Plum.’ This romantic color has soft gray undertones, and is lovely in dining rooms, bedrooms, and kitchens. If you’re considering a monochromatic palette, you can use this soft shade as the base color, then accent with darker shades like Black Raspberry and Purple Lotus.

For Embracing the Outdoors, try ‘Thornton Sage,’ 464

Not all summers are spent at the beach – sometimes we prefer woodland getaways, camping trips, and just being in the open air among the trees and the greenery. Colors like ‘Thorton Sage’ can bring the outdoors inside and let shades inspired by nature take over! We recommend pairing sage greens like this one with beiges, browns, and creamy off-whites to really bring the nature vibes full circle. That being said, this shade would also pair nicely with pale pinks, light blues and bright whites for bedrooms and powder rooms.

For When You Trade City for Sand, try ‘Sand Dollar’ OC-71

While some colors trend in and out over the years, you’ll never go wrong with a solid neutral shade. Colors like Simply White and Chantilly Lace will always be favorites, but for summer, we recommend embracing the color of sandy beaches with ‘Sand Dollar” as your summertime neutral. It’s got warm undertones, almost slightly pink, but still looks lovely with blues, greens, and browns. It’s extremely versatile and has a delicate sophistication, making it a perfect choice in almost any home. Plus it pairs beautifully with all our other recommended colors for summertime.

Whether you’re painting a vacation home or just want to make your city apartment feel like one, these colors will bring the feeling of summertime into your space, no matter the weather outside.
